SS16 Trends

Spring has sprung and as we approach another amazing Style Show event we're giving you a sneak peek of what to expect on our catwalk and in stores this season!

Spring/Summer Trends 2016 - Women

A varied application of the trend, New Exposure relates to a host of tailoring tweaks this season. Welcoming a return for the wrap in skirts and tops, the trend also shows where parts of the body are literally exposed including the “cold shoulder” with cut out fabrics across the shoulder bone, a return for crop tops, plunging necklines and long leg splits. Finishing additions of embellishments, bead or fringe detail will also be a strong feature.

The trend will also see a return to mesh and soft sheer fabrics to help achieve these looks using fitted and looser styles which will work well against most body shapes and suit those looking for more subtle or bolder styling choices.

Prints and stripes return this spring across all areas of fashion. Decorating shirt dresses, slip dresses the trend will feature in a more tailored way. Complete with stripe leather bags, stripe waspy belts as seen from Versace with a hint of khaki and animal print on accessories. This will be a versatile trend that will appeal to many due to the range of application and for those looking for a bolder look why not consider combining stripes.

The 70’s trends return to the spring but this time with much more shimmer. Metallic will be a major colour trend this season bringing shine to the return of a few 70’s styles including boiler suits, lux bombers, disco heels and even metallic tweed! Metallic 70’s style trouser suits and ties and cuff trousers also will see a return to this season with a new millennium twist.

First appearing a more risqué trend this season, the boudoir dressing style can be adapted to suit both the bolder and more toned down fashionista. Featuring silk slips, negligee coats, pyjama’s, head scarves and floating layers this is a very feminine trend for the season that can be dressed up or down to suit your preference and the occasion.

Ballet pumps and mules are a key footwear feature to complete the trend look to add further relaxed styling or to help elongate the leg.

Though we approach the summer, leather and denim will be a key trend as the 70’s trouser cuts alongside 80’s and 90’s styles return - ideal for the typical British summer weather! Denim is a top trouser trend with a Levis revival moving from the catwalk to the high street with structured fit, ripped, cropped flare, cullotte and frill all arriving in stores.

Complete your look with leather accessories including wrap skirts, bags, biker jackets or a variety of belt styles such as looped down, pleated and smocked - wear the style to suit your shape and achieve an amazing look.

Spring/Summer Trends 2016 - Men

Even for the most non-fashion conscious male, this season top trends will be easy and practical. The utility trend features heavily for men this season with patch pocket jackets and shirts combined with soft camo, cropped or rolled trousers. A great trend for Jurassic Park Chris Pratt fans - you can’t work with dinosaurs like him but you can have his wardrobe!

Partner with suede shoe, boots or loafers to complete the trend and enjoy the relaxed, comfort of the style.

Embrace a look back to the 50’s and 90’s with the Cuban trend. Featuring short sleeve shirts in Cuban and bowler styles or knit polo shirts combine with cropped chinos or wider trousers finished with loafers, brogues or sandals for the complete trend. It’s a trend that Chandler Bing would have loved during the friends early years - just avoid the temptation of a sweater vest!

Bringing new meaning to the term smart casual, this trend combines the comfort of sporting wear with added styling. Featuring smart joggers and sporty knitwear, combine with blazers or knitted hoodies, hightops and even biker or bomber jackets to create this casual luxe trend.

Blue is a key spring colour this season featuring across many trends and is known as one of the top favourite colours for men. In a variety of shades from pastel for the summer to darker navy for those who prefer something a little more subtle to bolder colbalt for the more daring including suits for the wedding season. Blue is the colour this season and hopefully we’ll be seeing blue skies this summer too!
