The Wedding Dress

Appliqué is applied in abundance in 2016 as wedding dresses trends see 3-dimensional decoration incorporated in their design. Featuring floral or even butterfly detail, appliqué applied against beautiful ivory or white lace adds a beautiful finish creating a fairytale scene as you walk down the aisle.

Floral patterns as part of the dress design are a key trend creating a delicate display adding shape to straight cut or adorning the larger meringue style skirts.

Tule overskirts are another top trend this season creating a classic flowing hourglass look without the hardship of a wider skirt creating a beautiful fine train as you walk down the aisle but adding ease as you take that first dance as a married couple.

Strapless and off the shoulder styles are also set to be top trends this season especially for the spring and summer. High necklines also feature alongside the off shoulder designs leading to long sleeves which will tempt many winter brides looking for a little more cover as the temperatures drop. Lace is the material of choice for brides wishing to cover over the shoulder with designs incorporating the delicate lace designs of floral and appliqué leading to the shoulder.

Hemlines are rising for 2016 and though most brides will prefer a full length gown, 2016 sees an increase in interest in more knee length bridal dresses. Still creating a beautiful hourglass shape, the shorter length is set to prove especially popular for summer brides and those looking for something a little different with a touch of the traditional.

Colours for 2016

Rose Gold and Copper are top colour trends for 2016. Following a boom of rose gold engagement rings in 2015, the trend it set to continue but will also be top colour choices for wedding theme. As venue decoration choices evolve from the vintage trends of more recent years, 2016 will see styles move with a slightly more rustic, mix and match style. Though weddings are about unison, themes this year will create some similarity yet offer elements to reflect the individuality of the couple steering from the traditional “his and hers” and more “this is us”.

Alongside the warmer tones for colours in 2016 and more mixed appeal, bouquets are also set for a looser, organic design continuing a more rustic chic style throughout the wedding design. Florals will also be a key trend feature for table decoration for this year. As the continued rustic chic trend, floral arrangements are a top trend for all tables as guests dine as part of the wedding celebrations in larger design with an abundance of greenery to bring the outdoors inside and for the more daring, large features too!

Wedding stationary is also seeing a change in 2016 with much deeper, richer hues of colour used with maroon, dark greens and blue set to be the top picks featured through beautiful calligraphy or overall design.

Ceremonies for 2016

Alongside the warming changes of rustic chic for wedding themes to transform the venue, more intimate weddings are set to be a trend for 2016. Many couples are keeping their ceremonies more intimate but increasing the atmosphere with their venue set up. Candlelight, beautiful organic styled floral arrangements and natural toned colours create a magical feeling for all and a wedding to remember. Many couples are also moving to shorter ceremonies as they focus more on celebration than the ceremony itself.

In addition to smaller celebrations, entertainment and unique extra touches are increasing as part of the fun. Photobooths continue to prove popular with couples looking to add something different to their wedding reception celebrations and candy buffets are also a top trend to be enjoyed by all ages and add extra colour to the venue.
