Pirates Ahoy!

A 27ft long pirate ship has washed up in Telford, bringing a host of free family fun for the town’s shoppers.

The unique installation in Sherwood Square will include live performances at various times every weekend until Sunday 6th August, with free craft activities on offer during the week to keep children entertained.

There is also a storytelling mermaid in Dean Square and a Facebook selfie competition statue in New Row.

Katie Broome, marketing manager, said: “Every year we aim to bring something special to open the summer holidays, and this year is set to be the most exciting yet.

“Continuing the ‘under the sea’ theme from the Carnival of Giants, we have installed a colossal pirate ship in the Centre.

“We also have a real life mermaid entertaining guests in Dean Square on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a magnificent selfie statue in New Row, so plenty to delight visitors.

“Visitors can also follow the trail of golden coins around the Centre to find a key word, for chance to win a treasure haul of toys, games and a £50 Telford Centre gift card.”

The free live pirate ship shows will be held at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm each Saturday and Sunday until August 6th.

Each weekday from Monday 24th July to Friday 4th August there will be free craft activities at the ship, including pirate mask making, face painting, puppet making, songs and games.

On Tuesday and Thursday, 25th and 27th July, 1st and 3rd of August, Dean Square will host a storytelling mermaid.

Guests are invited to pose with the New Row statue and upload their selfies to Facebook for chance to win a £50 Telford Shopping Centre gift card.
